3. Woven VS Embroidered Patch

woven patches details
  • Manufacturing Process: Weaving fine threads together to create patterns and text. Woven patches offer finer details and clearer lines, making them suitable for complex designs and small fonts.
  • Appearance: Smooth and delicate surface with sharp edges on the patterns. They feature rich colors and natural transitions.
  • Logo Coverage: All woven patches have 100% coverage.
  • Thickness and Feel: Thinner and softer, suitable for sewing onto garments, hats, and other items where a soft touch is desired.
  • Usage Scenarios: Commonly used for high-precision, detailed brand labels, logos, badges, etc.
  • Cost: Generally lower in cost, especially suitable for mass production.
  • Manufacturing Process: Stitching threads onto a base material to form patterns and text. Embroidered patches have a textured and three-dimensional appearance but are less capable of capturing fine details, making them better for simple and bold designs.
  • Appearance: Textured, three-dimensional surface with thicker lines and slightly blurred edges. They have distinct color blocks, suitable for high-contrast designs.
  • Logo Coverage:  Can be 50%, 75% and 100%
  • Thickness and Feel: Thicker and textured, ideal for emphasizing the three-dimensionality of the design.
  • Usage Scenarios: Often used for military, police, firefighter uniforms, sports team jerseys, outdoor gear, and other items requiring strong visual impact and texture.
  • Cost: Generally higher in cost, particularly for complex designs and small-batch production.

4. Limits Of Woven Patches

Extremely Complex Gradient Designs:

Since woven patches are made from interwoven threads, it is difficult to accurately represent complex gradient effects. While similar color gradients can be used, they won’t achieve the smooth transitions that printing provides.

Very Small Text:

Although woven patches can render relatively detailed designs, very small text (e.g., fonts smaller than 2 mm) may become blurred or unreadable.

Photographic or Realistic Images:

Since woven patches are made from interwoven threads, they cannot represent photographs or highly realistic images. These designs require higher resolution and color transitions, which are better suited to printing or other methods.

If your logo needs to match perfectly, try our sublimation patches.

Video Tips

Short, fun clips showing, tricks, and shortcuts.

A woven patch is a type of fabric emblem created by interweaving fine threads. They are commonly used on clothing, hats, backpacks, and other items for branding, identification, or decoration purposes. The manufacturing process of woven patches is similar to weaving fabric, where different colors and types of threads are interwoven to create patterns and text. Because woven patches utilize weaving techniques, they can achieve intricate designs and clear text. Woven patches typically have a soft texture and can be easily sewn or heat-sealed onto various items.

Printed patches are graphics printed onto a sturdy cloth base woven with thread. It can capture every detail, but is not as intricate as embroidered or woven.
